  • Time Series Library Review

    2007-07-30

The generic time series library is now undergoing a formal review on the main Boost developers' list.

Along with the recently-accepted Boost Accumulators library, we developed the Time Series library under contract to Zürcher Kantonalbank as part of a suite of high-performance tools used in their massively-parallel financial simulations. ZKB approached us with open outsourcing in mind, recognizing that our expertise with high-performance C++ libraries would be crucial in building the flexible simulation frameworks they needed. We're extremely proud of the result—both its overall quality, and the fact that our client was able to use the results of that work to save billions of dollars without substantially increasing risk.

  • The Astoria Seminar

    2007-07-14

Our own Dave Abrahams and Eric Niebler join Andrei Alexandrescu, Scott Meyers, and Walter Bright for what promises to be a mind-expanding journey.

Happy Bastille Day! As summer settles into its rhythm and the Tour de France heads into the mountains, we're busy settling details of a new fall seminar for advanced C++ prgrammers, The Astoria Seminar presents Extraordinary C++. This collaboration is an exciting opportunity for Dave and Eric—we've worked with Andrei, Scott, and Walter in various combinations over the years, but never before has this diverse group of five C++ experts come together, each bringing his own unique perspective to an event. The small size of the seminar (only 55 people), the mix of lectures, discussions, group meals, and outings, and last but not least the venue of picturesque Astoria, Oregon, will all contribute to a truly extraordinary event with learning, fun, and direct interaction with top personalities in the field.

    Mark your calendar!

The small size of the event makes it imperative that you act fast to register. We intentionally imposed a strict limit on the number of attendees in order to ensure plenty of face time with the speakers and to ensure a creative dynamic.
